About Us

First off, a little about myself, my name is Aaron Carithers, my wife, Jill and I live near Durango Colorado and have called the Southwest corner of Colorado home for nearly 25 years. We both attended Fort Lewis College, Jill completing her degree while I thought it would be a good iMom and the kids above Cunningham Crkdea to drop out of school to pursue a life as a full time fishing guide, thank god for Jill!!! We have two beautiful children who we have raised on the rivers, slopes and uplands of the west.

Like many, I was introduced to fly fishing by my grandfather Art Ohanian at 6 years old, from the very first trip to North Park Colorado I have been obsessed with trout and the sport of fly fishing. My obsession has led me around the globe to the Flats of Belize, Honduras, Mexico and Florida as well as the rivers of Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, New Mexico and the Chilean Patagonia. I have been extremely fortunate to live my dreams but I have also worked hard as a guide and professional fly tier and am very proud of the client base which I have built over the last 20 years, some of my closest friends and best clients have been with me for the whole wild ride.

Established in 1988, Anasazi Angler is one of the longest operating guide services in the area, teaching fly fishing and sharing good times with thousands of anglers over more than 2 decades. We share a philosophy of professionalism, knowledge, love and respect for the sport the fish and the habitat in which they live. We strive to make each day a memorable and fun experience and we do know how to have FUN while sharing our passion. I personally guarantee a fantastic experience with Anasazi Angler.
